Receive a Hemoglobin Test at UHealth Jackson Urgent Care – Country Walk
You can receive a hemoglobin test at UHealth Jackson Urgent Care – Country Walk, an innovative partnership between the Jackson Health System and The University of Miami. Our well-equipped immediate care center is led by a team of board-certified, UHealth – the University of Miami Health System physicians who collaborate with UHealth pathologists and radiologists to provide a full range of prompt and accurate diagnostic services, including hemoglobin testing.
Found in the body’s red blood cells, hemoglobin is a protein that delivers vital oxygen to tissues and organs, as well as carries carbon dioxide from the tissues and organs back to the lungs. A hemoglobin test gauges the amount of hemoglobin in the blood, and may be performed:
- During a routine medical visit as part of a comprehensive blood test to assess your overall health and check for blood disorders
- To help diagnose a medical problem, such as anemia or polycythemia vera, if you are experiencing fatigue, breathlessness, weakness, or dizziness
- To keep tabs on the status of your anemia or polycythemia vera, in the event you are diagnosed
Undergoing a hemoglobin test is simple and fast. One of our providers will either gently prick your fingertip or insert a small needle into a vein in your arm to collect a blood sample. The sample will then be promptly assessed in our onsite clinical lab.
