A CMP is a wide-ranging blood test that is used to measure several aspects of health, including glucose levels, fluid and electrolyte balance, and kidney function. Additionally, it measures:

  • Albumin
  • Calcium
  • Carbon dioxide (bicarbonate)
  • Certain liver enzymes (AST, ALP, and ALT)
  • Potassium
  • Creatinine
  • Blood urea nitrogen (BUN)
  • Sodium
  • Total protein

Receiving a CMP test at UHealth Jackson Urgent Care – Cutler Bay is simple. First, one of our practitioners will clean the injection site (usually on an arm) and collect a sufficient amount of blood through a small needle. From there, your blood sample will be analyzed on site in our clinical lab by a pathologist as well as your physician to ensure an accurate reading and the best possible treatment, if necessary. In the event that your test results indicate the need for specialized care, we can refer you to a specialist within the expansive Jackson Health System network.
