Urinalysis and a variety of other diagnostic tests are performed at UHealth Jackson Urgent Care – Country Walk. All urine tests performed at our center are promptly interpreted by a UHealth pathologist as well as an onsite physician.
Simply put, a urinalysis is designed to test urine. By assessing the content, color, and concentration of urine, medical professionals can identify possible health problems. For instance, physicians use this test to help diagnose and monitor certain conditions, such as urinary tract infections and kidney disease. A urinalysis may also be ordered along with a urine culture to screen for yeast and bacteria.
There are several situations in which a urinalysis may be appropriate. For instance, a physician may recommend a urine test:
- During a routine medical evaluation to check for illnesses or ensure that a patient is healthy prior to a surgery
- To help determine a medical diagnosis if a patient is experiencing symptoms like back pain, abdominal discomfort, painful urination, or other urinary problems
- To monitor the status of a condition that affects the urinary system, like kidney disease or a bladder infection
