Incision and Drainage Treatment in Miami-Dade
If you have a medical concern requiring incision and abscess drainage, don’t hesitate to visit a local UHealth Jackson Urgent Care center. An abscess can form when bacteria gets deep under your skin, causing pus to build up, redness, pain, and swelling. Bug bites, ingrown hairs, punctures, and wounds can turn into abscesses if they are not kept clean, and shaving or waxing can create a pathway for bacteria to enter your skin. Parts of your body with more sweat glands, like your armpits, groin, and genital area, are more prone to abscesses.
How Our Urgent Care Can Help
You can walk in to any nearby UHealth Jackson Urgent Care center without an appointment and be seen quickly by a UHealth – University of Miami Health System board-certified doctor. Our doctors are trained in minor surgical procedures such as incision and drainage for abscesses, simple cysts, and other skin problems.
During the incision and drainage procedure, your doctor will use an anesthetic to numb the area surrounding the abscess. Upon the completion of the abscess treatment, you will be given specific instructions regarding bandage changes and cleaning of the wound. You may be prescribed antibiotics to help your body fight the infection and prevent the reformation of the abscess.
