Chlamydia Tests at Miami-Dade Walk-in Centers
Chlamydia tests can be performed at all of our UHealth Jackson Urgent Care centers to check for chlamydia trachomatis, a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that is common among teens and young adults.
Most people infected with chlamydia do not show any symptoms, while others experience symptoms such as burning, soreness, or itching of the genitals, discomfort while urinating, and colored vaginal discharge with an unusual smell.
If you are sexually active, routine testing is recommended to check for chlamydia. The infection is treatable, but if left untreated, it can lead to many reproductive problems for women.
How Our Urgent Care Can Help
A lab test is needed to confirm a chlamydia diagnosis. You can walk in to any nearby center without an appointment to be seen quickly by a UHealth – University of Miami Health System board-certified doctor and be tested for chlamydia.
To perform a chlamydia test, your provider will first evaluate you for symptoms that may suggest an infection, and then give you a simple swab or urine test. The specimen is then sent out to an off-site laboratory. Your test results will be made available to you as soon as they are ready (usually within 3 days) and are completely confidential.
If test results are positive, you will be prescribed a 7-day course of antibiotics that can easily treat the infection.
