COVID-19 Testing in Miami-Dade

UHealth Jackson Urgent Care offers three forms of FDA approved COVID-19 testing: COVID-19 PCR test, antigen test, and antibody test.

In order to receive a COVID-19 PCR test or antigen test, you must be symptomatic, showing symptoms of a possible COVID-19 infection, and be seen by one of our board-certified doctors. The doctor will then determine which COVID-19 test should be administered

The antibody test is offered to asymptomatic, not showing any symptoms of COVID-19, patients; you will first be seen by one of our board-certified doctors.

Test results do not lessen the importance of social distancing or use of cloth face covers or masks. Flu and COVID-19 symptoms can sometimes be similar; our urgent care centers also offer a rapid flu test to help rule things out.

Not recommended for anyone who has had active symptoms for longer than 5 days

Testing can be done inside the center

The test can tell whether or not someone has the virus before antibodies form

The test has an increased chance of false-negative results because it requires less complex technology

Used to detect signs of prior infection caused by the COVID-19 virus by measuring the level of antibodies in the bloodstream against the virus

Very accurate when properly performed by a healthcare professional

Depending on the situation, medical staff may recommend a PCR test to confirm a negative antigen test result

Not for individuals who are still recovering from COVID-19, or who remain sick

Most Common
Questions

Do I need an appointment to receive COVID-19 testing?

No appointments are required to receive care at one of our UHealth Jackson Urgent Care centers. In order to receive a COVID-19 PCR test or an antigen test, you must be symptomatic and seen by one of our board-certified doctors.

How do I pay for my COVID-19 test?

If you have insurance, your visit and COVID-19 PCR and antigen test may be covered by your insurance plan. A physician will need to exam you and you should be symptomatic as insurance is only covering cases where it is “medically necessary.” If you do not have insurance, or if your insurance plan is not contracted with us, the cost of the PCR test is $150 and the antigen test is $60. The antibody test is not covered by insurance, the cost of the antibody test is $70.
